This was our first Overland Rally and it was much larger than expected! After being prompted by Dan of Northwest Overland, I helped out by volunteering and heard that we had about 800 people come through the gates. There were many vendors, classes, a few trail drives, and lots of ways to spend money! We met many great people who are generous and like minded. The nightly raffles and fires were also pretty fun, even though I didn't win or catch any goods. Some of the major sponsors included Overland Journal, ARB, Mountain Khakis, Expedition Overland, Come Up winches, Adventure Trailers (AT), Xventure trailers, Defenders Northwest, Torfab, Snow Peak, Filson, Das Mule, and my personal favorite - Four Wheel Campers. Other presenters and big name participants included Exploring Elements, From Desk to Glory, and Northwest Overland.
This is a busy and awesome summer! This week on Thursday we are going to the Northwest Overland Rally and Workshops in Plain, WA; about July 4th we will be starting our epic summer loop; and last weekend I climbed Glacier Peak with James from church. It was a very long approach from the parking lot to the summit, and the same amount of elevation gain as climbing Mt. Rainier. We brought the skis along, making for a great descent in certain sections and very heavy packs in any sections not covered in snow. Photos below - enjoy! |
